The End of A World Adrift

The time has come for me to decide to cancel A World Adrift for the foreseeable future. The project is no longer sustainable for me, I no longer have any confidence that I can improve the game to the point of it being market-viable reasonably soon.

Your Money/The Patreon's Future

I have refunded the four current(at the time of writing) patron's most recent charges. According to Patreon, it may take some days for that to go through. Once this post goes live, I will also message them all individually about it. I don't want anyone accidentally remaining subbed for AWA updates that will not be coming.

If people want to continue to subscribe to support the development of subsequent projects, I am truly grateful for the support, but I want no one to remain subscribed under false pretenses or expectations.

A World Adrift's Future

While I still want to make the game I wanted A World Adrift to be, I have to accept that I'm not able to at this juncture. I want to say it's not gone forever, but I cannot make any promises to that effect. As far as "plans" for A World Adrift's future go, I would like to continue to work on the engine/technical side of the game when and if I can find the time. But if you're expecting to be able to hold out hope of a rebooted and improved AWA cropping up in a few months, don't. It's gone for now.

My Future, what comes next

I will be shifting my development focus to a new game. It will be a much more focused scope than A World Adrift was, be more visual in general, and be far simpler mechanically. I have not done much work on it yet, but the progress has been leaps and bounds faster than what was managed with A World Adrift. I will post more about it in the future, and this patreon will continue to exist to support it. I would love it if folk would stay around to hear about and play the new project, but can't blame anyone who would rather move on.
